Revathi and Vinayan Criticize High Courts Stay on HC Report :

Vinayan alleges that the report of Hema Commission is being suppressed as certain mafia elements in Film industry are scared. Vinayan reacted sharply, "They will go to any extent so that the [Hema Commission] report does not come out," in defense of the High Court's stay order. Vinayan suggests that the lack of a release, however unsurprising it might be, indicates an ongoing desire within pockets of Kerala's film industry to shield their strongholds inside it.

He argued that this resistance points to a larger problem with supremacy by the government and court, which could be bad news for filmmakers of today if these individuals preserve their influences. Actress Revathi, also a member of the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC), echoed similar sentiments about what she said was court trying to "please" all sides.

Incidentally, the Kerala Film Producers' Association has not be a party to the legal tussle over report. Secretary B. Rakesh said the Union had nothing to do with the complaint filed for blocking of its release and pointed out that Sajimon Parayil, who produced this petition is not member in his association. The issue flared up as the High Court delivered a last minute stay on making it public. Sajimon Parayil, the producer who filed it, said any release of even a part of the report could expose people to possible identification based on statements made.

Respect one another, chaps. That is what I learned from my time spent covering the courts; and in response counsel for the Information Commission, A. Ajay, said that Parayil's petition was essentially filed with ulterior motives of third parties The lawyer also observed that the people who gave statements did not oppose releasing the report either, and asked how it would affect Ms. Shalaan in any case.

The High Court's intervention was sudden as a division bench, headed by the Acting Chief Justice did so. The registry said the case could not be treated as a Public Interest Litigation (PIL). After the single bench clarified that it was a problem for him personally too, he adjourned with direction to issue notice to the government on July 31. The government has not released the 2019 Hema Committee report - whose release order right to information commission excluding personal privacy details had passed but AB-B wants it implemented.
