Ranjith disparaged Mammootty's latest film :

Big egos, common in the Malayalam film industry, were on full display at the 27th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) closing ceremony. Chairman of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, Ranjith, also the event's organizer, criticized superstar Mammootty's most recent movie openly. The multifaceted Ranjith, who is also a very well-known cinema figure, was miffed when he was jeered by several audience members, primarily young people, when his name got announced to speak at the IFFK's closing ceremony. Ranjith, unable to contain his rage, added that one would have to wait to see how many people would show up to see Mammootty's movie when it gets released in theatres.

Ranjith was upset because he had been attacked when Mammootty's newest film, "Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam," debuted at the IFFK. A sizable crowd showed up. And many of those who had booked in advance needed help getting a seat, leading to the accusation that individuals who had not made reservations were able to enter. The police arrived and had to use force against the demonstrators after people who had made reservations objected. As a result of the arrests of three demonstrators and the filing of FIRs against numerous more, Ranjith was widely criticized.

On Saturday, though, a calmer Ranjith made an effort to make amends. He claimed that the organizers had never requested that the police take any action and added that it is only natural for there to be a large audience for good films. It's unlikely that Mammootty will respond, as he possesses a grounded personality when it comes to criticism. He knows that by doing so, he will come out on top. Moreover, Ranjith has already begun to cool off. 58-year-old Ranjith, who began as a playwright before transitioning to the director, producer, and actor, has released over 80 films in his career, including blockbusters starring superstars Mammootty, Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, and others.
