Vijay's Beast, starring Thalapathy and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar for Sun Pictures, was the highest opening weekend in Tamil cinema this year. Although the movie got mixed reviews, it became a huge hit and made the box office ring. Ankur Vikal, Shaji Chen, and Lilliput played the villains in the big-budget action movie featuring chart-topping music by Anirudh Ravichander.

Other notable actors who played essential roles included Selvaraghavan, Sunil Reddy, VTV Ganesh, Sathish Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Aparna Das, Redin Kingsley, and Shiva Arvind. In the movie, Vijay appeared as a RAW agent and shared screen time with the supporting cast in a mall that terrorists took over. The film's central premise is how the group manages to save everyone trapped within the shopping center while also foiling the terrorists' evil plans. Also, the movie had several comedic moments with Vijay participating. Shiva Aravind, who portrayed Killi in Beast, has revealed a filming location secret and shared a behind-the-scenes picture from the movie.
