Following the passing of his mother, Hiraben Modi, on Friday at the age of 100, Shah Rukh Khan expressed his "heartfelt condolences" to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On Saturday, Shahrukh tweeted tagging Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his tweet. "Heartfelt condolences to @narendramodi on the loss of his mother Heeraben ji. My family’s prayers are with you sir. May God bless her soul."
In Ahmedabad, Gujarat, the prime minister attended his mother's funeral before flying back to Delhi on Saturday. Following the news of Hiraben's passing, several well-known people, including Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher, Kangana Ranaut, Vivek Agnihotri, Jackie Shroff, Swara Bhasker, and Sonu Sood, paid tribute to the late mother of the prime minister by sending their condolences online.
The politician and the actor had occasionally spoken in the past, such as in 2019 when PM Modi met with other representatives of the Indian film industry to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi's birth. Along with Shah Rukh, several well-known people attended, including Aamir Khan, Kangana Ranaut, Ekta Kapoor, and Imtiaz Ali.
